WARNING: THERE ARE NO MAGIC PILLS OR QUICK FIXES
Patching up the cracks only to fall back into old habits won’t lead to long-lasting change. Working with me through Embodied Medicine won’t always be easy, change is hard. My hope is that you will walk away with tools to use time and time again in order to make long lasting positive change.
It’s going to take time and commitment with you in the driving seat. I will cheer you on from the sidelines, but I cannot run your race for you.
WHAT I CAN DO
Empower you to make choices NOW which can support your health into the future.
Support you in telling your story and work out how your experiences may be impacting your health today.
Focus on the symptoms you are experiencing and help you to work out what makes them better, and what can make them worse.
Answer questions and explain about any medical conditions you might be living with and want to know more about.
Help you to unpick and make sense of the often confusing and conflicting evidence available around diet and nutrition, giving you the confidence to make food choices that could be beneficial for your body, healthy, that you enjoy eating, affordable and achievable around your life and work- even on the busiest days.
Help explain the meaning of test results you may have received and aren’t sure what they mean for you.
If requested, I am happy to advise on the benefit of further tests if that is something you are curious about.
As some tests aren’t available on the NHS, or they are but there is a long waiting list and you are seeking peace of mind about a particular issue, I can recommend options where you can access tests through private providers. Though I would like to be clear that I am not affiliated with any private providers of testing services and so would not be able to vouch for the reliability of their testing processes.
At your request, I can communicate with your GP or other specialists, or make recommendations for other professional services.
WHAT I CAN’T DO
I am not able to diagnose you.
I am not able to organise tests (bloods or imaging).
I do not provide prescriptions. Decisions to start and stop medications should be made between you and the specialist that prescribed them.
I do not provide specific personalised diet or exercise plans.
I do not offer weight loss support. It is possible that weight changes happen as a natural consequence of us working together and the changes you choose to make in your life. There is no such thing as a perfect or “healthy” weight and every body has different needs at different times in their life. We will always focus on how things make you feel.
I have received training in therapeutic modalities and counselling but I am not a trained psychotherapist. If things come up through our work together that I feel could benefit from longer-term formal psychological support I will discuss this during our sessions.
